During my junior year of college, I studied abroad in Tours, France and this time of my life was utterly transformative. I became obsessed with the way French women curated the perfect minimalist wardrobe and always looked effortlessly chic. My style and sensibility was forever changed.

Friperies, or secondhand clothing stores, were plentiful, no matter what city I visited in France, and I loved popping in to my favorites to treat myself to special pieces of clothing and accessories that I still wear today.

Fast forward 15 years and my love for a French-inspired wardrobe and a good Friperie is still very much alive. While I love my chosen career as a registered nurse, my work can be both demanding and depleting. On my days off, one of my favorite ways to recharge is by wandering the aisles of a good thrift store.

Friperie Berkshires quite literally started with a pair of pants: a pair of flowy, cream-colored Zara trousers that I found at the Lee Goodwill. They weren’t my size but were too pretty to leave behind, so I scooped them up and gifted them to a friend. The idea of giving beautiful pieces new life became a fun hobby and I began hunting for treasures and listing them for sale on Instagram. As word spread throughout my friend group, so did specific thrifting wishes and requests. Before I knew it, I had accidentally started a business!

Friperie Berkshires is a nod to my time in France, the many Friperies I frequented while I was there, and the idea that a wardrobe is built not in quantity, but in quality: fewer, finer things.

My first brick-and-mortar store opened in July 2025 in Lee, MA and I am so thrilled to now be a part of the bustling Great Barrington community. I can’t wait to meet you!
